Android 8.1 is an update to Android 8.0 released in late 2017. Features of Android 8.0 are detailed in the corresponding help item; and this update mainly introduced a number of internal improvements that are invisible to the average user. Among the most obvious innovations are updated settings and power management menus, a display of the charge of connected Bluetooth devices, as well as an assessment of the speed and signal strength of Wi-Fi networks before connecting to them. As for the HMS edition, this is a special version of Android 8.1 used in Huawei smartphones. The fact is that due to US sanctions, this company does not have the right to cooperate with Google, therefore, instead of Google Mobile Services (a set of Google services), it uses their analogue, Huawei Mobile Services. These services include Huawei ID, AppGallery, branded equivalents of Google's core services (assistant, browser, cloud storage, music/video, etc.), and app developer tools. Installing software from the original Google Play on such smartphones is not possible, however, in general, their software part is completely similar to the regular Android editions.
