Toggle between high and low beam, autonomy up to 100 hours, reflective elements, 5-year warranty.

The manufacturer Petzl positions the headlamp as a universal solution for active people. It is suitable for hiking, sports, and can also be useful in everyday life or at work (in a workshop). The model supports switching between near and far light, respectively for a more diffused or focused light beam. The Petzl Actik 2022 also features three brightness settings with a maximum value of 450 lm and a range of 100 meters. The set of modes is completed with two red lighting options — constant and flashing.

The headlamp has a moderate weight of 98 grams. The elastic headband is supplemented with a phosphorescent reflector and an adjustment plate. The latter allows directing the light beam higher or lower. The strap is easily removable and washable. Special mention should be made of the single control button with a transport lock feature, a charge indicator, and compatibility with brand-specific bicycle and helmet mounts.

The model supports two power options — from three AAA batteries (included in the package) or a CORE battery with 1250 mAh (not included). Also, instead of regular AAA cells rechargeable ones can be used, which only increases overall versatility. From batteries, the autonomy time for white lighting will be from 2 to 100 hours.

Petzl Actik 2022 is a practical headlamp with a good set of modes and two power options. An additional argument in its favor is the 5-year official warranty.

Multiple modes, shock resistance + IP66, compactness and light weight, Type-C port on the body, reflective elements, 5-year warranty.

A representative of the NU series by the brand Nitecore is an ultra-light and compact headlamp: it weighs 44 grams, and the length is 6 cm. It is almost unnoticeable on the head and convenient for transportation and storage. The lightness is provided, among other things, by a thin elastic cord that has reflective properties and glows in the dark for increased user safety.

The Nitecore NU21 plastic body is resistant to drops from a height of up to a meter and has good water protection — IP66 class. The high overall reliability level is also confirmed by the manufacturer, as it provides a 5-year warranty on the product.

The flashlight is positioned as a dual-beam one — it has two main white light diodes. They produce a light output of up to 360 lm with a range of 58 meters. Users have access to 4 brightness modes, including medium and low — at 170 and 60 lm. There are also two additional modes — SOS and beacon, as well as a pair of red diodes with constant light or flashing.

The 500 mAh battery has a 4-level indication and charges via Type-C on the body. The autonomy time at maximum brightness is 2 hours, at 60 lm — 8 hours, and at a minimum 6 lm — 37 hours.

On the body, there are two buttons of different shapes and textures, which adds intuitive control — one serves to turn on and change brightness, the other — to switch between modes (white/red, auxiliary, etc.). Plus a protective lock is available.

Nitecore NU21 is an excellent headlamp for outdoor activities and/or as a backup light source.

Multiple modes, including near/far light, autonomy up to 175 hours, IP67 water protection.

In the model range of Black Diamond, the Storm 450 headlamp is one of the most versatile since it has many operating modes. It has 3 brightness adjustments, with a maximum light output of 450 lm and a range of 120 meters. If you need to see something better next to you, a switch from far to near light will be useful. Additionally, there are 5 more modes, including SOS and three different colors — red, blue, and green. The latter can be useful for hunters, as this light spectrum is not visible to many animals.

Not getting confused by a variety of modes is helped by the memory function of the last active one, as well as the PowerTap button — a single press activates the brightest light. Plus, a lock function is implemented, useful for transporting in a backpack or pocket.

The headlamp is made of plastic and has a moderate weight (59 grams without batteries and 92 grams with power elements). It does not need to be hidden from rain, as the IP67 class allows even submersion up to a meter underwater for up to 30 minutes. By default, three AAA batteries are suggested for power, with autonomy ranging from 2 to 175 hours — respectively at maximum and minimum brightness of 6 lm. Moreover, the model is compatible with the BD1500 battery (not included in the package).

Black Diamond Storm 450 is a worthy choice if you need a headlamp with decent brightness and a variety of modes. Note also that it comes with a 3-year official warranty.

Excellent brightness (for a headlamp), powered by Type-C.

In the Einstein collection by NEBO, this model is one of the higher-end solutions: only the 1500 Flex ranks higher. The headlamp is equipped with an elastic and easily adjustable strap, features a plastic and aluminum body with basic water protection IPX4, and a single button for convenient operation.

The key feature of the NEBO Einstein 1000 Flex is its high maximum brightness: it is 1000 lm in turbo mode. This can be used for a short time, for example, to illuminate a distant space (120 meters of range). For protection against overheating, after 10 seconds, there is an automatic switch from turbo to a less intense mode. Users have access to three more brightness settings — 350, 150, and 10 lm. There is also one auxiliary cycle — red lighting, which does not dazzle in the dark.

Power is provided by a 2200 mAh battery, from which the model will operate from 3 to 18 hours depending on brightness. It is separated from the flashlight itself — when attached to the head, it is on the back of the head. The modern Type-C connector is directly on the battery, so most network adapters or laptops, any power bank, etc., can be used for charging. Instead of the battery, two CR123A batteries can be used, with which autonomy will be approximately 20% less.

The remote battery block made the model heavier than its main competitors, but the total weight of 123 grams is hardly felt on the head, as it is distributed between the front and back parts.

NEBO Einstein 1000 Flex is a bright headlamp powered by battery or batteries.

Autonomy up to 100 hours, shock resistance + IP68, clip and built-in magnet, reflective elements.

The headlamp from the specialized brand Fenix is positioned as a multipurpose solution that can be useful for hiking, sports, and everyday life. The elastic strap with reflective elements ensures a comfortable fit on the head. The model can be easily removed from the head bracket with one motion and turns into a compact hand flashlight (length 7.4 cm). Especially for this scenario, there is a clip to attach to clothing and a built-in magnet.

The Fenix HM23 V2.0 itself is made of metal: it withstands drops from a height of up to 2 meters and has excellent dust and water protection — IP68 class, allowing even short-term submersion underwater. The Luminus SST-20 diode used has an impressive working life of 50 thousand hours.

Users are offered 3 white light brightness settings with a maximum of 300 lm and a range of 88 meters. Plus, there are 2 additional red light modes, including flashing.

By default, the model operates on a AA-type battery included in the package. With it, autonomy will be from 5 hours 20 minutes at maximum brightness and up to 100 hours — at the minimum (3 lm). Compatibility with the rechargeable ARB-L14-2200U battery is also stated, which can be purchased separately.

Fenix HM23 V2.0 is a high-class solution with a reasonable price tag.
