Like Dexron, they have long been a benchmark for many other car and auto chemical manufacturers — especially since the requirements of Dexron and Mercon are similar, and many oils are certified according to two standards at once. At the same time, Mercon marking is used much less frequently in the east european market, and all oils with this marking can be combined into one selection point. Specific variations of this standard include, in particular:
