The predecessor of the model in question (Continental ContiWinterContact TS 850) almost fifty times took the podium in comparative tests of winter tyres. The tyre with the TS860 index, which replaced the “winner”, can break this record, since improvements in it have affected almost everything. The tyre has incorporated the features of both "European" and "Scandinavian", which makes it universal in all weather conditions, whether under the wheels of a car is packed snow, slush or a dry roadbed.

Special rubber compound

When developing the model, we took into account the peculiarities of mixed winters in the countries of Central and Western Europe with characteristic fluctuations in temperatures from plus to minus and vice versa. The tyre is not afraid of low temperatures either — the special composition of the rubber compound with a high percentage of silica and the inclusion of special resins contributes to maintaining its elasticity. In combination with many 3D sipes on the tread, increased stability on snowy surfaces is achieved.

Braking distances

The directional V-shaped tread pattern of the tyre cuts through numerous drainage grooves for the rapid removal of water and melted snow masses from the contact patch. And braking efficiency on winter road surfaces is enhanced by a special Liquid Layer Drainage technology, due to which a film of water forms under the tread, reducing the contact surface area between the tyre and the road. Even despite the lack of studs, the rubber shows an impressively short braking distance on ice.
