Design

The ILIFE A9s is a good value-for-money model with some minor downsides. The body of the robot is round in shape made of black plastic with a matte surface, which is very easily soiled and collects fingerprints. Silver-coloured edging with soft rubber that protects the furniture from collision damage. In general, the vacuum cleaner looks attractive. The body height is 76 mm, while the device can overcome obstacles up to 15 mm high.

Either dry or wet cleaning

The device can perform both dry and wet cleaning, but not at the same time, since there is only one compartment for the container. That is, here you can install either a dust collector or a water tank. As a result, there are more manipulations and time spent, but you don’t have to worry that the vacuum cleaner will pass with a damp cloth over the carpet.

The containers themselves are quite large. The dust container holds 600 mL, which is enough not to empty it after each cleaning cycle. A full 290 mL water tank will also allow you to do a few cleanings, although it is better to remove it before docking with the docking station. A microfibre cloth is attached to the bottom, which must be moistened before use. After that, water will flow automatically. During operation, the platform vibrates, imitating the movements of a person and a mop, which should improve the quality of wiping.

During dry cleaning, the following modes are available: automatic — the vacuum cleaner moves like a snake, capturing the maximum amount of space; spot — cleaning a certain polluted place; movement along the perimeter — along the walls and in the corners; maximum — increases suction power (especially suitable for carpets). But especially in the last mode, the noise grows, so being in such an environment is not very comfortable.

Sensors and mapping

The OBS All-Terrain system consists of 22 sensors and protects the device from falls from stairs and collisions with furniture and other objects. With the help of the camera, the model is oriented in space and maps the premises for more efficient work and routes. You can control the gadget remotely using an application on your smartphone or via a remote control. It is possible to create a cleaning schedule, view the status of consumables, and install virtual walls. But the latter does not happen in the application, but through a separate device out of the box, powered by two batteries. It must be placed in an area where the robot will be closed path. Of course, through a smartphone, setting up is faster and more convenient.

However there are many complaints about proprietary software: the application is only in English and quite often does not work correctly, losing connection with the device and knocking down the settings. In addition, the robot itself also speaks English, and is quite loud, so it can wake you up in the middle of the night. His conversations are turned off only in the application. But the instructions, fortunately, were translated into Russian.

On a single charge, the vacuum cleaner will work for about two hours, after which it will return to the docking station to charge. If desired, it can be charged directly through the cable.

Brushes and accessories

The robot has two bristle side brushes that pick up debris from corners and direct it towards the dust collector. They work in both dry and wet cleaning. There are also two main brushes: rubber with scraper blades, which does not wrap hair and wool so much and is easy to clean, as well as a regular one with medium bristles. The complete set of ILIFE A9s is also rich: in addition to the robot itself, containers, docking station, remote control and brushes, you will find spare consumables: filters, napkins, as well as a special brush for cleaning containers and filters.
