Model overview based on user reviews
The Nokian Hakkapeliitta R tire is highly regarded for its performance in winter conditions, excelling on ice, snow, and wet asphalt. Users appreciate its quiet operation and fuel-saving capabilities. It is noted for its softness and low noise, making it suitable for harsh cold conditions. However, the tire's soft sidewalls can be a drawback, especially on rough roads or at higher temperatures, where it may feel like driving on "soap." While it performs well in snow and ice, some users mention that its grip on wet roads could be improved. Despite these nuances, the tire is praised for its predictable behavior and minimal wear over multiple seasons. It is recommended for careful drivers who prioritize comfort and safety in winter driving, though it may not be ideal for those seeking aggressive performance. Overall, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R is a high-quality choice for winter driving, offering reliability and durability.

Despite the shortcomings, I bought it for the second time. For careful driving, don't drive recklessly over sharp-edged potholes, but glide over them :) The thin side is susceptible to cuts. If handled with care, it will last. I ruined it because of the bad roads. Mainly drove on the Kyiv-Pryluky-Romny-Sumy route. Those who know will understand. Drove with this brand for a total of 3 winters. Ice crust, ice, snow, dry and wet asphalt. Quieter compared to the previous W, seems to save fuel, feels like about 1-1.5 liters per 220 km on the highway. Felt it in my bones. You can't say that it doesn't go through mud, it does, but not very confidently + weak sidewall - it is afraid of strong impacts at high speed. In the winter before last, I completely wore it out for the season (overall it covered about 40 thousand, but I assume that 50 is not the limit). |
2 seasons without complaints and holds the road no worse than many studded tires, quiet. it goes over snow without any issues, holds the road perfectly, goes well on ice—trucks polished the road on the straightaway, whoever got stuck, sand was poured under the wheels, got out of the car—legs slipped and barely stood firm, thought I was done for, but started confidently and easily. at +5, all winter tires slide, and that's normal, but the R tires have soft sidewalls, and it's very noticeable—however, at -20 they hold the road well and don't hit the back. |
The rubber is more suitable for careful driving rather than for active drivers. The braking distance increases on slush and wet roads, but ABS also plays a role here. On ice, starting is quite easy with minimal slipping. In slush and mud, the sipes quickly get clogged, and the tire also begins to slide. Low noise, performs well on snow and dry asphalt, relatively low cost, little wear. The braking distance increases (starts to skid) at above-zero temperatures, slush, and on wet roads. |
