MAXimum effect
There are quite a few different robot vacuum cleaners in the Xiaomi range, and the RoboRock S5 Max is among the best, albeit not cheap models. It is designed for dry and wet cleaning and is suitable for both apartments and houses and offices. The body is round in shape, with one silicone brush on the side to sweep debris from corners and along walls. The vacuum cleaner climbs over obstacles up to 2 cm high and effectively sucks up debris not only from flat surfaces, but also from carpets, even with long pile. The suction power is 2000 Pa, so the device will save you not only from dust and crumbs, but also from hair and pet hair. There are white and black versions to choose from.
Dry and wet cleaning
The main brush is responsible for dry cleaning, which operates in four modes: quiet, balanced (for daily cleaning), turbo (for quick and spot cleaning), maximum (when the gadget drives onto the carpet, it automatically turns on maximum power for efficient suction). Moreover, on all four, the noise level is quite acceptable: a working vacuum cleaner will not hurt to work or talk, but, of course, not everyone will be able to fall asleep.
As for wet cleaning, there is a 280 mL water tank in the back and a microfibre cloth. A tank of sufficient volume, in which there is enough water for one or even several cleanings. Moreover, it is possible to regulate the water supply during washing: for example, a moderate supply in the room and more intensive in the kitchen, or depending on the type of coating. The tank is transparent, the level of the remaining water is easily visible, and the kit comes with a silicone mat for the docking station so that there is no wet spot on the floor when the vacuum cleaner is resting and charging. If you do not need dry and wet cleaning at the same time, just remove the rag, leaving one brush. By the way, the napkin will have to be washed quite often, as it is small in size.
Of course, the device will not provide you with a full-fledged washing: it will not cope with dried spots, and it will not perfectly clean the seams on the tile (especially the rough one). In addition, detergents cannot be added to the tank. Therefore, the robot will do a wet wipe, but from time to time you still have to work on your own, armed with a mop.
Sensors and control
The vacuum cleaner uses a system of sensors that scan the room, help make a cleaning plan, navigate in space and prevent the gadget from falling off a step or hill and crashing into furniture. The control takes place remotely, through the proprietary Roborock or Mi Home application: here you can see a cleaning map, divide the room into several zones and select a specific one for cleaning, set virtual boundaries and restricted areas (for example, animal bowls or carpets in wet cleaning mode), configure cleaning schedule on certain days and hours, select the appropriate mode and find out the status of individual parts of the robot: filter, main brush, water tank, sensors. The smartphone can be used as a remote control, and there is also support for voice control using Google Assistant and Alexa. Up to three cleaning plans are stored in its memory.

A single charge of a 5200 mAh battery will last up to 3 hours of battery life (depending on the mode). If you choose maximum power, this time is reduced to 1 – 1.5 hours, but this is still enough for a full cleaning of an apartment or house. When the energy supply is running out, the vacuum cleaner automatically stops cleaning and returns to the charging station, choosing the shortest route. It takes about 3 hours to fully charge.
