The working element in such saws is a looped chain moving along an oval guide rail. Chain saws in general are quite versatile, they are used both for wood and other materials, including even figured carving of sculptures from concrete or ice. As for electric motors, they have a number of important advantages over gasoline engines. First of all, this is a low cost (both the engines themselves and their operation), relatively small size and weight, ease of maintenance, and the absence of exhaust gases, which allows using power tools indoors without restrictions. The disadvantages of electric saws depend on the type of power supply: network models depend on sockets (in addition, the cord can interfere with operation), battery models do not differ in power.
