If you use elastic sticks, you can even repair shoes. I used it to repair a cat's scratching post, where the rope had torn into two parts, so I glued the parts to the post, and it's been holding for several years without falling apart. You can also use it for insulating contacts or securing connectors so they don't fall out of sockets.
It operates very simply: plug it into an outlet, turn on the on/off switch, wait a few minutes for it to heat up (when glue starts to flow from the nozzle, it means it's ready), pull the trigger, and squeeze out the molten glue. Be careful not to get it on your skin, as it can cause burns. However, the glue sets very quickly, so don't delay with it. After turning it off, it needs time to cool down.
