From the press release:

CanoScan LiDE 25 is a new scanner with the added option of Scan to PDF. With a thickness of only 34 mm, elegant and stylish, this machine allows you to scan a document directly to a PDF file, as well as perform scan, copy and scan to e-mail functions with the touch of a button. Canon's advanced LiDE (LED Indirect Exposure) technology delivers 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution for consistently high quality. The scanner is powered through the USB port. The model is compact, comes with a complete software package, and the advanced "Z-lid" design allows you to scan 3D originals and 3D objects.

Scan to PDF
The Scan to PDF (Portable Document Format) file function of the scanner will speed up the processing of documents. It does not require any additional software. Scanned pages can be easily added to a previously created PDF file and organized within it. Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, text converted to a PDF file can be easily edited and found in the document.

A high resolution
With a resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and a colour depth of 48 bits, the highest fidelity of colour and image details is achieved when scanning photographs. Canon's advanced optical technology delivers superior results when scanning complex charts and photographs with many fine details.

Convenient "EZ" buttons
When designing this scanner, Canon engineers aimed to make it very user-friendly and easy to use. The front panel has "EZ" buttons that allow you to scan, copy or email an image with one touch. Using the Canon Toolbox software, other commonly used functions can be assigned to the "EZ" buttons. The scanner is equipped with a convenient "Z-lid" cover that evenly distributes pressure on the object and allows you to scan not only thin documents, but also large books, as well as items of non-standard size. The compact and stylish design is complemented by a flat lid.

Multi-Photo mode allows you to create a separate file for each picture when you scan several photos at once, which saves time. You don't have to carefully align your photos on the exposure glass—the Multi-Photo feature will automatically detect the number of images and crop and straighten them as needed. With improved optics and scan-to-PDF functionality, the scanner is perfect for both photos and text.

High quality software
To enhance functionality and improve results, the scanner comes with high-quality optical character recognition and image processing software: CuneiForm and ArcSoft PhotoStudio. ScanGear's Level 3 Intelligent Auto Retouching and Image Enhancement (QARE) technology provides image correction by automatically repairing damaged areas and restoring faded photos to their original brightness. Also, this technology allows you to remove traces of dust and scratches, recreate colour saturation and remove image grain with a few clicks. And thanks to the clear interface, the software is very easy to use. You will save a lot of time that used to be spent manually retouching pictures. For the first time, ScanGear can be used as a standalone driver. This means that the user can scan and save images without running TWAIN applications.
