- The dynamic range of the a7s3 and c70 is the same, personally tested.
- Sony has less noise in the shadows.
- Canon pulls more details from the shadows. Sony, on the other hand, from the highlights.
- After conversion, the colors are very similar. Canon red shifts to magenta, and Sony to carrot. It's impossible to determine which is better.
- The logs are very similar. The trick is that if you apply the same conversion LUT, you get almost the same image.
- Autofocus on the c70 is weak; in low light, it's like Panasonic. The a7s3 has the best in the market.
- The codecs are approximately the same in terms of load on the PC. Both edit well on new hardware.
- The screen on the Canon is better, but it feels too flimsy. Sony's screen is poor, and peaking is hard to see. Many find it gets loose after six months.
- In low light, Sony leaves no chance, but it has noise at ISO 6400-10000.
- Balancing the c70 on Ronin RS2 is possible, but better with an additional counterweight (Tilta has one). It's much more convenient to shoot all day with Sony.
- The sound on the c70 is just terrible. The s3's is excellent. I'm talking about the microphone.
- Sony has significantly more native lenses. Canon EF lenses are somewhat soft, while RF ones are excellent, though there are fewer choices.
- Canon's battery lasts 2-3 times longer. But the weight and size are different.
- ND filters. It's convenient in the c70; Sony doesn't have them, but you can screw them onto lenses.
- The c70 is a video camera, which means a bunch of other features I didn't touch on. The s3 is still a photo camera.
