For several decades, under the South Korean brand Cort, high-quality and inexpensive guitars have been produced, the demand for which is consistently high all over the world. The MR600F electric acoustic guitar is a great example of how you can make instruments of decent quality at a reasonable price.
Simple and reliable
Dreadnought (Western) with a lower neckline is offered in one colour — natural. The top is made from solid spruce and is protected by a burgundy mother-of-pearl pickguard that matches the colour of the rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The sides and back are made of mahogany laminate, which is quite predictable. If there was solid wood everywhere, the price would be higher, but everything looks beautiful — perfect texture, rich colour and gloss, and increased resistance to moisture and temperature extremes, of course, which Cort has been famous for for a long time.
By the way, there is an assumption that only one colour scheme of the guitar is explained by the desire to emphasize the mahogany, any other colour would hide the beautiful texture, which would make the instrument not look so impressive. Nevertheless, having a choice is always better than not having it, and here Cort, in our subjective opinion, made a mistake.
Both on tour and on a hike
Amplification is provided by a Fishman Sonicore pickup and Fishman Isys+ tone control, while a backlit chromatic tuner ensures precise and fast tuning even in dark conditions. In addition to the tuner, the tone block has a volume knob, Bass, Treble, Phase settings and a battery indicator.
From the factory, the guitar is equipped with D'Addario USA EXP16 Light (12-53) strings, the choice is good, but for beginners this gauge will be heavy, it is better to put less. Even despite the fact that the bridge here is designed to compensate for high tension due to the optimal angle of the strings.
It is worth noting the good tuning stability and precise intonation, which are achieved thanks to the bone nut and cast chrome pegs. All this compensates for the not too outstanding sound of the instrument. The tops are pulled up, the bottoms are missing, the middle is cut off, but in general, nothing surprising for the Cort, which primarily focuses on the quality of materials and electronics.
Cort MR600F is the choice for those who need a reliable and unpretentious tool at an adequate cost (about $250). As a workhorse for rehearsals or a second number, that's what you need.
