How does an expensive dash cam differ from a cheap one?Is it really possible to save money on buying a dash camera?

How to choose a dashcam? What are the key factors to consider when choosing a dashcam?
While choosing a device, I tried three different models. I needed a high-quality recording. If you want a clear picture and to see all the details, it won't be cheaper than €55.00. The image quality of the recorded material is excellent. Everything is detailed. All functions and the motion sensor work and are necessary. Night filming in the mode of a country road - as far as your headlights reach... Essentially a small pocket video camera. Crackling while driving. They say it's the button on the microphone rattling during the ride. A drop of silicone will solve everything. On bumpy roads, the camera vibrates horizontally, and the focus is difficult to maintain. The image "floats" like a reflection in the water. This unit has such a drawback, as did another one I looked at. The lens has three positions. It rotates only 90 degrees left-center-right. You can't turn it to the window for the traffic officer anymore. The plug loses a stable connection with the lighter socket during the ride, which causes a "bzdyk" - we have to replace the fuses. I've replaced them twice so far.))) |
Good video quality in 1920x1080 mode at 30 frames per second. However, I wouldn't call it excellent, and I'll explain why below. License plates and other small details are clearly visible. Recording can be initiated manually or rely on automation, starting when the motion sensor is triggered. It works well, although there are occasional false activations from a car passing in front. Another interesting and useful feature of this model is the rotating lens, which can be turned 180 degrees. To record a conversation with a police officer looking through the window, you'll have to rotate both the lens and the recorder itself. Still, this is more convenient than a traditional fixed lens. It comes with a cool rotating LED screen with a 7-centimeter diagonal. It rotates 270 degrees, and its size allows for examining small details, like a license plate. The recorder can capture high-speed video at 60 fps, possible at resolutions of 1280x720 and below. It has standard loop recording options of 1, 2, 5, and 15 minutes. Supports 32GB flash drives from different manufacturers, as tested on cards from three different brands. Personally, I don't believe in either the five-megapixel sensor or the authenticity of 1080p video. In my opinion, the slight blurriness of the image in 1920x1080 mode is explained by the fact that it's simply an upscaled 1280x720. After all, the detail in these modes is practically the same. Truly genuine 1080p recorders, typically priced from 91 EUR, usually provide a clearer and sharper image. However, I can't say that I'm lacking in quality. The existing quality is quite sufficient, and the price remains attractive. |
You should start using it as soon as you buy it, checking all the functions. This way, you won't encounter such a problem later. The purchase was overshadowed by the device's lack of standalone operation. I bought it for 40 EUR in Alushta. The picture is good, you can see the oncoming lane and pedestrians. Night shooting - agree with the previous review - as far as your car's headlights can reach. Big plus - we drove through fog with it. The road was not visible, and it really helped. Thanks to the foldable 2.7'' rotating TFT LCD display. A problem with the battery or output, not exactly sure. Just took it to the service today. So, couldn't enjoy shooting on battery. It's been in use for 1 day. Gave it to my husband for New Year's. He used it once. Then he wanted to leave it on in the parking lot, to see it working on battery, and we faced the issue that it only works for a minute. Tried to charge it through a laptop—same issue. We'll wait for the service results. I'll update afterward. |
