Dean Guitars Exotica Quilt Ash A/E

The American company Dean Guitars was founded in 1976 and has been delighting its fans with quality instruments ever since. The Exotica Quilted Ash electro-acoustic western guitar series is distinguished not only by its expressive appearance, thanks to a quilted ash top and an abundance of colour schemes (there are four of them), but also by excellent build and excellent, balanced in frequencies, clear and loud sound.

Appearance and materials

The body of the Exotica is entirely made of ash wood. The elegant wing-shaped bridge is carved from rosewood, the rosewood is adorned with mahogany inlays, and the rosewood fingerboard is adorned with mother-of-pearl fret markers. It is noteworthy that in the series you can find not only the standard right-handed “six-string”, but also the left-handed, or 12-string model.

The neck has increased stability and protection against deflection, as it has a built-in double truss rod.

Electronics

The guitar is equipped with a proprietary compact DMT 12NR preamp. Controls include a 3-band EQ and Presence effect. The built-in tuner functions whether the guitar is on or off. Also an interesting feature is the presence of two connection connectors at once — a standard jack and a balanced XLR.

Despite the very good quality of the electronics, it's ok to purchase a suppressor, since, as some users note, the model suffers from the “feedback” effect.

Also, fans of all sorts of "merch" will not like the lack of a branded case for the model. The company, of course, has a line of cases, but they are all designed for other models, and buying an expensive case for a not very expensive guitar is not entirely logical.

In the absence of a case, the pill will be sweetened by the basic set of strings from D'addario with their excellent bright and rich sound.

Dean Guitars Exotica Quilt Ash is a strong “middle” for those who like to attract attention not only by the quality of the repertoire, but also by the spectacular appearance of the instrument.
