It is believed that every reasonably serious bass player should have at least one Precision Fender in their arsenal, and random sampling shows that this is generally the case. The American Professional model was designed on the basis of its famous classic predecessors, and, taking from them the best features, has been supplemented with new ones.

Good old new vulture

The model uses a 1963 C standard neck profile, carefully copied and recreated from vintage models, and is one of the finest ever made. The neck radius has been increased from the standard to 9.5", which gives an additional 3.3 mm at the nut level. The neck fits perfectly in the hand, and creates maximum comfort when moving the hand up and down.

One split is enough

The instrument has only one pickup — the V-Mod model, developed by design guru Tim Shaw. The transducer brings out the warm and natural tones of old splits while delivering the clarity and dynamic range of today's best designs. Two alnico magnets for the E and A strings create warm tones, while five for the upper strings are responsible for the medium and high tones. The bass has that classic crisp sound that you'd expect from Precision.

Sound-enhancing design

Although the instrument looks like an old familiar model, it is armed with features that enhance both clarity and sound. The first thing that catches your eye is the Vintage HiMass bridge with strings fastened through the solid alder body. Paired with a bone nut, it is maximally targeted to transfer most of the string's energy into the instrument's body, enhancing sustain and articulation. The light open pegs did not disappoint either, to the turn of which the strings respond very sensitively.

The Fender American Professional Precision Bass is a successful, but far from cheap attempt by the manufacturer to improve the legendary instrument without changing what musicians of several generations have loved so much in it. Emphasizes the high status of a rectangular branded case with an external logo engraving and fur inside.
