Maximum range is provided at a peak brightness of 1500 lm, which can be “squeezed out” when using a rechargeable 21700 battery. Together with a 18650 battery, the flashlight produces a maximum luminous flux of about 1100 lm. In this mode, the model is able to work autonomously for a little more than an hour and a half. Also in Fenix PD40 there are three more gradations of brightness level — 500/150/30 lm. "On the minimum" it shines up to 2.5 days without a break (61 hours in a row).

Night hunting

The model is equipped with a tactical button in the "tail" and a button for switching modes from the side of the "head". Holding the mode button while the flashlight is on activates the strobe mode. In a separate order, the flashlight will appeal to hunters — red and green light filters are supplied with it, which reduce the likelihood of frightening game and increase the chances of success when hunting at night. Rubberized light filters enter the groove of the bezel very tightly and hold firmly on the "head" of the flashlight.

Colour indication

To determine the level of charge of the flashlight , a colour indication is provided — each time it is turned on, the charge level indicator in the centre of the side button shows the battery status. The battery is charged via the USB-C connector. Well, the only complaint about the model is that the complete cover does not completely cover the glass of the flashlight, which is why there is a possibility of damaging it when carrying it.
