It does not have its own DRAM buffer, but thanks to HBM (Host Memory Buffer) technology, it is able to use part of the system memory for these purposes. It demonstrates a decent level of I / O performance and high read / write speed (2000/1600 MB / s within a dynamic SLC buffer up to 64 GB). It is worth noting that only Windows 10 provides full support for HBM technology, and older versions of this operating system can experience an almost twofold decrease in performance. 64-layer TLC 3D NAND flash memory is used to store user data. The drive provides impressively fast loading of the operating system, resource-intensive professional applications and the latest games. It is also worth mentioning the complete silence and low power consumption, which is fundamentally important for the battery life of the laptop.

Goodram PX500 is a low-cost M.2 PCI-E 3.0 solid state drive, which, nevertheless, demonstrates speed characteristics at the level of pre-flagship models of previous years. The heart of the Goodram PX500, the brainchild of the Polish company Wilk Elektronik, is the Silicon Motion SM2263XT controller. The XT index means the absence of an operational buffer both in the controller itself and on the drive's printed circuit board. Instead, Host Memory Buffer technology is implemented, which uses part of the system-wide RAM.

No overheating

Dual-channel 128-bit DDR4 is substantially faster than 16-bit DDR3L, which is typically used as native SSD cache. So it turns out not only savings on the cost of the disk, but also an increase in performance. The Goodram PX500 heats up relatively weakly, so even a thin bundled heatsink can handle the cooling.
