Which is better: wet or dry heating element in a water heater?Learning the design features, pros and cons of "wet" and "dry" heating elements in water heaters

Detailed FAQ on storage water heatersWe answer the most common questions regarding the installation and operation of storage water heaters
Model overview based on user reviews
The Gorenje OGBS SMV9 water heater is praised for its innovative ECO SMART technology, which optimizes energy use by adjusting the tank's temperature based on usage patterns, significantly reducing heat losses. Users appreciate features like the antibacterial heating mode, clear LED temperature indicator, and the durable construction with a large tank. However, some users have faced challenges with customer service and warranty processes, experiencing delays in service and replacements. The product's smart functionalities are well-received, although there are concerns about the reliability of the "dry" heating elements. Overall, while the technology and build quality are commendable, potential buyers should be aware of possible service issues.

Truly, we are living in amazing times. I'm not talking about computers, smartphones or smart TVs, these technical marvels are already in full view. But I had no idea that smart water heaters existed. But they already exist, and even if they do not have high-speed WiFi and an IGZO screen without an air gap, they are really smart devices that can save us time and money. True, if you remember the price, then you still need to calculate whether the savings will pay off, because the price of such a tank is also not for children. The main feature of this model is the latest ECO SMART technology. Savings are achieved through the proper use of timed heating. The main unproductive heat losses in any boiler occur through insulation. No matter how good it is, heat slowly dissipates from the large surface area of the tank, and the hotter the water inside, the more heat will be lost. The ECO SMART feature monitors for seven days to determine when the most water is consumed, such as draining into the mixer and shower. After this week's observation, it starts adjusting the tank's temperature so that it is at its maximum at the required times. So if my wife and I use the tank in the morning and evening, it heats the water fully by morning, then rests during the day, and heats again by evening, before we arrive home. At night, it also has a rest period, keeping the water in the tank warm but not too hot almost until morning. This means that most of the time when the tank is not in use, the smart control maintains a low temperature, thereby reducing heat losses. In addition to this clever technology, it also has an antibacterial heating mode, various protections, an impressive and clear LED temperature indicator, and other nice features. There are two heaters, and they are of the "dry element" type. ECO SMART technology monitors the situation throughout the day, but it does not know what Sunday is, and what is good on ordinary working days may not be very convenient on weekends. |
Good boiler, just didn’t get it. I ordered it from the "Palladium" store, which I deeply regret, and I don't recommend dealing with these scammers!!! I was choosing it for my mom, she's 79!, she lives in Dnipro, and I’m in Kyiv! I always order reliable appliances for her, in 2016 I bought her a fridge, she still loves it and is satisfied, but of course, I ordered it from others! This was the first and last time with these guys! In the OGBS80ORV9 boiler box - they brought something different. I ordered with SMART functions, the latest 2017 version, and they shoved in some ECoBACCE which is not it at all! They refused to take it back! Basically, don’t order anything from them, it’ll cost you more. They took advantage of an elderly woman who couldn’t read the English instructions because she was taught more German before! It's frustrating that we get scammed everywhere and on everything! I like the whole boiler and its functions. Attitude towards the customer! |
I bought this boiler, but there was not much joy. After two months, the tank began to flow. Dry heating element The boiler was under warranty. I contacted the Gorenje service center, and only three weeks later did a plumber from the representative company come to confirm that I had a warranty case. As it turned out later (I thought they would replace and bring me a new one right away, but that was not the case), I had to contact the company from which I bought the boiler to discuss a refund or an exchange for a new boiler. Another three weeks passed before I was able to get the money from that company. The product might be good, but if your boiler breaks down, the service under warranty is "rock bottom." |
