Lightweight and compact

The Hitachi P20ST planer is designed for leveling wooden surfaces and removing old coatings. Due to the fact that it is compact and light (only 2.5 kg), it can be used for several hours without fatigue in the hands. The gearbox accelerates the drum to 17,000 rpm, so planing even knotted wood will be done without jerks and bumps. However, it is worth noting that the planing depth is quite small — only 1.5 mm; it is set by turning the front handle in 0.1 mm increments.

Handsome "Japanese"

Carbide one-sided knives are installed in the drum, which can be sharpened after blunting. However, for this you need to have the appropriate tool and sharpening skills. Protection against accidental activation is provided by a start button blocker. It also makes it easier to work with long-term planing. The tool itself has a beautiful ergonomic design, made in the original style of the "Japanese" Hitachi.

Shoe against workpiece damage

On the right side, a dust collector for sawdust is connected to the body, which by the way comes with an electric planer. Also available is a pipe for attaching a vacuum cleaner. The back of the sole is equipped with a folding shoe, thanks to which the planer can be placed flat on the workpiece without fear of damaging the surface (especially when the drum is rotating). Depth of sampling of a quarter makes up to 25 mm.
