hand radar design

The Chinese brand Hoko is known to the east european buyer for high-quality electronic accessories for digital gadgets and mobile phones. Currently, the company is successfully mastering the production of popular household products, including health tools and accessories. The Hoco KY-111 non-contact thermometer belongs to the widespread segment of measuring instruments for taking temperature readings from the forehead skin and the surface of objects (liquids). The model is similar in design to a hand-held radar and is equipped with a trigger button for quick measurements (1 s). There is a battery compartment hidden in the pistol-style grip, where 2 AAA batteries (not included) are installed. Above the handle there is an LCD screen with a bright backlight, and below it there are 4 control buttons: select the operating mode, turn on the backlight and switch between units of measurement (Fahrenheit / Celsius).

Satisfactory measurement error

Body temperature is measured within 34 – 42 °C (93.2 °F - 107.6 °F) with an accuracy of 0.3 °C, and the temperature of objects within 20 – 60 °C (68 °F - 140 °F) with a larger error. The highest accuracy of body temperature measurements is achieved when measuring from a distance of 3-5 cm to the forehead. Measurements are accompanied by a sound signal, and the obtained values are automatically stored under a serial number in memory and can be displayed. At the end of measurements, the device automatically turns off after 40 seconds, which helps to extend battery life. Despite the fact that the thermometer does not have the best indicator of sensor error, it handles well with its functions. In addition, its affordable price speaks in favor of the model.
