Entry-class semi-automatic welding machine
The semi-automatic inverter IDEAL Praktik MIG 1800 MMA is an entry-level welding equipment designed for semi-automatic (MIG) and manual arc welding (MMA) of steel parts. The device has a power consumption of 5 kW, which allows it to be used with middle-class generators in the field and on construction sites. The spool inside the case is designed for spools of wire weighing from 0.45 kg to 5 kg. At maximum power, the machine can work with a frequency of 60% (6 minutes of work and 4 minutes of rest), but if the welding current does not exceed 139 A, you can work without pauses. The device is equipped with an overheat warning light and a VRD (open circuit voltage reduction) function.
Settings and adjustments
Digital displays on the front panel show current parameters: welding current, voltage or wire feed speed. In MMA mode, the rotary control allows you to set the current in the range from 10 A to 160 A, in MIG mode - from 50 to 180 A. The broach mechanism and welding tips support wire with a diameter of 0.6 mm to 0.9 mm. The left “twist” is designed to adjust the feed speed and enable synergetic control, in which current, voltage and wire speed are automatically maintained at the optimal level.
Device for beginners and home craftsmen
The low price and decent performance make the IDEAL Praktik MIG 1800 MMA a good choice for a garage or home workshop. Thanks to its synergic mode, it is especially suitable for beginners. But for frequent welding with electrodes, it is better to choose another model, since it does not have the Hot Start and Arc Force functions necessary for beginners.
The disadvantages include the non-removable sleeve, which interferes with storage and transportation and does not allow you to quickly replace accessories if necessary.
