Model overview based on user reviews
The Janome 5500 sewing machine is an electromechanical model praised for its affordable price and simplicity, making it ideal for beginners. It offers 14 stitch options and features like reverse stitching and twin needle sewing. Users appreciate its ability to handle various fabrics, from organza to denim, although it struggles with very stretchy knitwear and dense fabrics like triple-layered taffeta. Some concerns include the plastic paw holder and the absence of central feeders in the feed comb. Despite minor issues like vibration affecting the light bulb, the machine is considered a good value for everyday sewing needs.
Pros
Cons
Pay attention to the paw holder, it must be metal. Beautiful name While new, and do not know how to sew, you may not notice the shortcomings. But, the plastic paw holder is no good. A feed comb without central feeders, in general, one of the main elements is cut down to disgrace. i recommend it don't buy |
I've been sewing for a couple of years. The cost is low, and the quality is quite decent. I'm a beginner - the simplicity of the model is also a plus! Very satisfied. I recommend it! Price, work quality, simplicity! Not found. use Janome 5500 more than year |
Excellent machine! I've been using it for the third year now. It "handles" everything from organza and fine crepe chiffon to denim folded four times. The variety of stitches allows for embroidery. Once, I tried to sew triple-layered taffeta with it, but it didn't work. It seems to be due to the very dense weave of the fabric. It worked for three years without adjustment. Now it’s just a mess. I sewed a ton of things on it. I would say that for such a price it is just a gift. Vibration turns off the light bulb. I don’t like the stitching on very stretchy knitwear - it turns out uneven and loops. use Janome 5500 more than year |
