Solid heavy lock with keys Carrying a few extra kilograms with you. |
I use the KLS Chainlock 8 as basic protection for my bike when I leave it near a shop or for a short time. In terms of construction, it's well-made: heavy, massive, it feels like a serious thing, not a toy. Inside there's a thick metal chain, and on top is a sleeve made of dense textile, which effectively protects the frame from scratches. It's convenient to use, with enough length to properly lock the bike to a stand or fence. The lock looks reliable and commands respect, but I fully understand that no chain provides 100% protection — it all depends on the time, tools, and determination of a thief. As a compromise between weight, convenience, and a sense of security, it's quite a reasonable option. Suitable for everyday use, especially if you're not leaving the bike unattended for long. Looks high quality Maybe a little more length is not enough |

As for the lock itself, I haven't had the chance to test it in action yet because I don't leave my bike outside; I need to go to the store, come home, put the bike away, go to the store, that's it. Sorry, but if someone wants to steal your bike, no lock will help. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't want to test it on myself, even though I ride a relatively cheap bike. The lock itself is quite heavy, definitely weighs a few kilos, and is covered with a dense fabric to avoid damaging the paint on the bike frame. Inside, the links of the lock are made not from round steel but from square steel, which the developer believes makes them stronger.
Overall, my impression of the lock is that it is a solid item that can indeed protect a bike in most cases if secured properly, but one should not forget that thieves have a whole arsenal of tricks and tools to get what they want, namely someone else's property. So be careful and remember that your best weapon against an attacker is your mind.
