Powerful and affordable smartphone

Once a direct competitor to Xiaomi, Meizu has not been trying to directly compete with the giant from the Middle Kingdom for a long time. And probably, this is even good, because the manufacturer manages to save the "face" of its own smartphones and release unique things like Meizu Zero, the world's first smartphone without plugs. At the same time, the Chinese do not forget to warm up the mass market — their new brainchild Meizu Note 9 boasts a capacious battery, a multi-pixel camera and a price tag of only $200.

Full View display with tiny waterdrop notch

As for an inexpensive smartphone, the novelty pleasantly surprises with its design. Meizu ignored the notches for a long time, but the Note 9 received a 6.2-inch Full View display with a resolution of 2244x1080 pixels and a waterdrop notch for the front camera. Moreover, the notch turned out to be barely noticeable and practically does not take up useful space on the screen. A barely noticeable chin turned out to match him – competitors like Redmi Note 7 will have a thicker bottom frame.

Decent power

The processor of the phablet is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 675, organically complemented by 4 GB of RAM and an Adreno 612 video adapter. This chip handles brilliantly with demanding games, providing high graphics settings even in PUBG. The internal memory for storing applications and multimedia files is 64 GB. There is a microSD card slot, but it is hybrid. That is, either 2 SIM-cards, or one SIM and one memory card.

Dual cameras

According to the latest Chinese fashion, the smartphone camera will be a tandem of two sensors, the main of which will have a resolution of 48 MP. The trick is that one of the sensors is rumored to be the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1, which has a real resolution of 12 MP. Therefore, we say right away that although the photos are bright, clear and detailed, you should not focus on megapixels and expect from Meizu Note 9 the transcendent quality of modern flagships.

Selfie beautification mode

The 20-megapixel front camera also does not upset with its capabilities — selfies turn out great, and the “beautification” mode in most cases smooths out lighting imperfections and incorrectly chosen angles. Although, sometimes it highlights the skin, which makes the selfie look like a glossy photo in which they overdid it with Photoshop. Plus, the front camera has a face unlock function that works correctly even in low light. If the standard fingerprint scanner is more familiar, then it is also here. And it is also very fast, in 99% unlocking takes a fraction of a second.

Separate headphone jack

A capacious 4000 mAh battery gives decent, but by no means fantastic 8-9 hours of active screen time. Unfortunately, there is no NFC support. But there is 4G, OTG and the good old 3.5 connector for connecting ordinary headphones. Together with the advantages listed earlier, all this makes Note9 a potential hit in the east european market. The whole question is, will Meizu be able to impose a fight between Huawei and Xiaomi in the marketing field?
