Saws: types, purpose and selection tipsA brief overview of different types of saws and sawing machines with tips on choosing the right tools

Low oil consumption

The Italian chainsaw with a 400 mm bar is suitable for trimming branches and felling trees with diameters up to 800 mm (assuming a two-pass cut). The device is equipped with an oil tank with a capacity of 350 ml. Automatic oil supply to the chain occurs only during operation, and there is no consumption at idle (unlike gasoline models where oil may be supplied to the chain even at idle). A full tank lasts approximately one hour of operation, which is relatively low consumption considering that most electric models can use up to 1 liter of chain oil per hour.

Tool-free chain tensioning

The saw is equipped with a tool-free chain tensioning system. It allows tightening or loosening the chain without using a screwdriver and without removing the bar's protective shield. Note that this model has a transverse engine layout—it does not affect performance but can be slightly inconvenient for making horizontal cuts, for example, when felling a tree. The handles have rubber pads that reduce vibration. The manufacturer equipped the device with a chain brake that protects the operator from injury in the event of a kickback (such as when the tip hits a knot or metal object). A pleasant aspect is the low cost of the device.
