So, we acquired this "miracle of technology" out of a need for healthy eating. We've been using it to the fullest for the third day now. Out of everything we've cooked, the steamed cutlets were the most appreciated. 1. We tried making bagels with filling (like mini-pizzas) - didn't like them. 2. The rice cooked in the included bowl didn't seem to turn out crumbly. Later, we read a tip on a forum suggesting to try cooking by pouring the rice directly onto the bottom. We'll try it tomorrow. By the way, buckwheat in an ordinary glass dish placed at the bottom of bowl No.1 turned out crumbly and tasty. 3. Today we steamed fish (lean), portioned pieces wrapped in foil along with vegetables. We got a total of 6 portions (two packets in each basket). Here we found the first design flaw: the bowls can't be swapped like in other steamers, which is a shame. The dish "fresh from the heat" was a hit. 4. It's unclear why you can't, for example, choose the "chef" mode for one of the included bowls and a manual timer for another. Or perhaps we just haven't figured it out yet...((( 5. Why are there 3 bowls included when the instruction recommends cooking with only two at a time? 6. The drip tray is too small. But it lasts for an hour. 7. We read reviews saying it's hard to clean. So far, this issue hasn't worried us. It washes perfectly fine in manual mode. 8. There's a lack of another small dish to fit into bowl No.1. For 180 USD, they could have added more accessories. reliability an effort is required to find it a worthy use. For fans of fattiness, spiciness, and kebabs, it's definitely not suitable. |
I used the steamer for a year. Vegetable casseroles and omelets turned out great, indispensable for a child (to prepare healthy food). Curd casseroles are completely different from those made in the oven, with a soft and tender taste, melting in the mouth. Tried cooking pilaf and didn't notice a difference. Steamed cutlets are superb, you can't make them like that in a frying pan. As for fish and meat, we weren't impressed, even when made with vegetables. They're better on the grill. For grains, I don't see the point of using it; young potatoes came out great, though. What I didn't like right away was that when cooking, it emits a lot of steam, like when a kettle boils, so we had to change its place from under cabinets on the countertop. I didn't like that after six months, it started smelling like burnt plastic. We took it to service, they took it apart and said everything was fine, but the smell near the cord persisted. And another six months later, the steamer started malfunctioning, with the "add water" indicator beeping continuously even with a full tank. We took it to service and got a refund... you can prepare dishes that cannot be cooked in pots-pans or in an oven. broke after a year use Philips Avance Collection HD 9190 month or more |
I've been using it for 1 month. We bought it out of necessity, despite everyone advising against it. They said it would be impossible to use, that a multicooker would be better. It turned out to be the best purchase ever. Even I started cooking. Load up 3 containers with food, set the program, and in about 40 minutes you just come back to serve it on plates. Plus, it stays on warm mode for another 20 minutes, waiting for late diners. We often don't even transfer the food to pots; we just put it in the fridge in the container and then reheat it using the steamer. Overall, the time spent on cooking has significantly decreased. It's very easy to clean. The food tastes a hundred times better than boiled because its natural flavor is preserved. We cook rice in the soup bowl (included in the set). If you add water at a 1:2 ratio and use parboiled rice, it turns out fluffy. The time for each basket is set immediately. Attractive design. Cooking starts 30-40 seconds after the start. There is a convenient water refill. If there is no water, the steamer turns off, and a water refill signal lights up. It automatically turns on after refilling. All containers are numbered and easily removable, including the waste water tank. There is a chef mode for fish, but it takes longer to cook (different temperature mode). The touch control is not very sensitive. There was an instance where the waste water tank overflowed. In such a case, the excess water spills over into the clean water tank. It had to be cleaned as well. |
The strong point of the Philips model is its advanced functionality. Along with a stylish design and a touch control panel, it elevates the model to the top of the steamer pedestal.
Independence
The complete set of the device includes three transparent containers with a volume of 2.6, 2.8 and 3.2 liters, as well as a removable bowl for rice and liquid dishes with a capacity of 2.5 liters. Each container can cook food independently of the others — the proprietary Meal Programme function allows you to set the optimal cooking time for a specific container. In order for them not to be confused in places, the containers are numbered consecutively.
Useful volume
The double boiler is ready to take even the whole chicken into its insides, for which you just need to remove the bottom in each of the bowls. Thus, access immediately opens up to the entire useful volume of the kitchen appliance (8.6 L). And to make the taste of chicken and other dishes more saturated, a special spice net, which is installed directly above the steam spout, will help.
Ability to think
The brain of the double boiler stores 4 auto-cooking modes for various categories of dishes. You can also set the cooking time in the traditional way, i.e. manually. If the water suddenly runs out during the cooking process, the device will immediately notify you of this with the help of light and sound indication. Topping up the liquid into the tank is carried out through a special spout on the side of a strong metal case.
Qualities
Complaints from the owners of the model refer only to the small capacity of the drip tray. If it overflows, juices and fats from food may overflow and enter the water tank. Also, many may not like the high cost of a double boiler. But we should not forget about the quality of its performance and a high level of functionality — these characteristics fully justify the price tag on the Philips HD 9190.
