Friendly "baby" with simple controls

If you have a desire to get compact acoustics with a Multiroom system, and even for reasonable money, then Philips BM-5 is worthy of your attention. Acoustic dimensions of 118x165x165 mm will allow it to concisely fit into any corner of your house or cottage, and a small weight of 1.12 kg will not become an obstacle in order to take the device on a picnic or on a trip.

More fun in a couple

Given the low cost of the audio system, compared to classmates with the Multiroom function, it makes sense to purchase several speakers at once, and, placing them around the house, brag to your friends about a full-fledged multi-room system. Speakers with one click are able to "organize" into a wireless network and produce high-quality and synchronous sound without the participation of Wi-Fi, a router or additional programs.

Ease of over-the-air connection is provided by Philips' patented Izzylink technology. The principle of operation is very simple: on each speaker, you must press the Group button and the devices will “become paired” via Bluetooth. Up to five speakers can be used in one chain, which can be paired with each other without problems.

All controls are located on the upper part of the case, covered around the perimeter with high-quality fabric material in black or white colours. The device is controlled by four buttons and a volume control with a pleasant blue backlight. On the rear panel there are inputs: mini-Jack (3.5 mm), USB input (not intended for connecting flash drives, but for updating software) and a power connector. Note that if you connect a portable device with a wire, the Multiroom function will not be available.

sound

As for mini acoustics, the speaker pleases with a very decent sound, for the quality of which two broadband emitters are responsible. The depth and velvety of the bass timbre is added by a phase inverter built into the rear wall. Even at maximum volume, the Philips BM-5, whose power is only 5 watts, will not “lock up” and distort the sound.

Despite the fact that the acoustics are very impressive and inexpensive, they can only replace a full-fledged home audio system in tandem with their counterparts.
