The integrated ironing system of the Dutch manufacturer Philips is rightfully considered one of the old-timers of the market. It debuted on the market almost 10 years ago, but even now it remains in demand in the premium segment.
Optimal temperature and steam exposure
Philips WardrobeCare GC 9940 is equipped with an iron with a proprietary SteamGlide soleplate and OptimalTEMP technology. The latter sets the optimal temperature parameters and does not require manual settings. It is stated that the user does not have to sort different types of clothes before ironing, and in addition, the iron can be left horizontally on both things and on the board without the risk of burning them.
The 2400W steam generator will be ready to use in just 2 minutes after filling the removable 1.6-liter tank with water. Steam is then supplied at a high pressure of 6 bar, and its intensity rises from a stable 120 g/min with a burst of steam to 260 g/min. As a result, the leveling process of even dense textile materials does not take much time.
By the way, the model is also recommended for ironing delicate fabrics, because it has received the Woolmark certificate, confirming the careful handling of woolen products.
Active board and simple operation
Another feature of the Philips WardrobeCare GC 9940 is the Active ironing board. The built-in fan works to absorb and blow out air, which accordingly helps to better fix things on the board (handy when ironing trousers) or create a kind of “air cushion” for gentle alignment of “capricious” fabrics.
For compact storage, the ironing board folds in half and slides to the side, after which the system is easy to transport on wheels. Of the other nice features, it is worth highlighting the automatic rewinding of the power cord and the presence of a locker for the iron, where it can be hidden immediately, without waiting for it to cool.
DualProtect System
The model has a double system of protection against scale. It is presented as a self-cleaning system that automatically starts the flush cycle, as well as replaceable cartridges. The latter protect against the penetration of deposits into the steam generator, extending its service life. However these functions cannot be used separately: in order for self-cleaning to occur, you will have to replace an already spent cartridge, that is, spend money on new consumables.
The Philips WardrobeCare GC 9940 is an interesting choice for those looking for a practical and easy to use ironing system.
