The first thing that comes to mind when I started writing the review is that it's a quick book. And indeed, very quick, it moves swiftly through sections, turns pages, etc. I've had two books before, and this one is the fastest. Also, the book is very light, which is extremely convenient when reading lying down, especially with legs half-bent and a hand on the chest. Plus, the size is just right, it fits easily in your hand. I should mention that there is no backlight, and this sometimes bothers me, but since I mostly read at home, under the lamp light, the lack of backlight is okay. It has 8 GB of built-in memory, with a bit more than 7 GB available, which is enough for thousands of books. So essentially, it doesn’t matter how much memory there is since I never keep more than 100 books on it, there's no point. I read mainly in FB2. I also want to point out the very high-quality screen, the contrast is pleasant, the text is very readable, better than on older books, plus it is genuinely black and white, with no yellowish hues. The micro USB is a bit annoying since almost all devices at home are USB-C. At first, I missed the ability to listen to audiobooks, but with a smartphone, it’s a useless feature. Regarding the battery, I'll say this – I charge it very rarely. It lasts for about 15-20 books. I read 2-5 books a month. I know there's a dictionary feature, but I've never used it. Fast. Very high-quality screen. Fits comfortably in the hand. Lightweight. Pleasant white color, not beige. Perhaps they are not there, maybe the backlight is missing. Quality screen eInk Carta
The model will serve as a tasty choice in the low-cost segment of readers without any frills. In its compact case with dimensions of 161x108x8 mm, it was possible to place a recessed 6-inch screen on an eInk Carta matrix substrate. The eyes perceive such a display as good paper and do not get tired when reading books for a long time. The resolution of the screen is 1024x758 pixels, the fonts on it are displayed without characteristic pixel "ladders" and notches.
Button control
The display of the PocketBook 606 is non-touch, and the management of the book is tied to a five-way joystick and sub-screen page turning buttons. For the sake of accessibility to the widest possible audience, the model is devoid of a screen backlight system. And other "luxury" like a built-in browser on board the reader is not expected. An analogue of the model with a backlit screen is presented on store shelves under the name PocketBook 616.
Omnivorous nature
The electronic reader works with 17 formats of books and text documents, including common PDF, EPUB, FB2, DOC, TXT, etc. Memory device "brought" 8 GB. A few thousand more books can easily fit on a microSD flash drive up to 32 GB inclusive, for which there is a separate slot on the bottom of the “reader” case. Finally, due to the lack of a built-in backlight, a single charge of an 800 mAh battery is enough for about 8,000 page turns. To brighten up the pastime on a long journey, casual toys in the memory of the reader will help: sudoku and a snake.
