Introduced in 2022, the PocketBook e-book reader is a relatively inexpensive solution. "Reader" is located at the junction of the initial and middle price segment. The model boasts a 6-inch screen and low weight (155 grams), which will definitely add convenience when carrying and eliminate hand fatigue even during the longest reading sessions. It uses a paper-like, eye-safe monochrome E Ink Carta display.

In case of lack of lighting, there is a backlight. The role of the controls has no alternative assigned to the buttons under the screen. E-book PocketBook 617 is characterized by "omnivorous" in relation to file formats. More than 15 types of book files are supported, including the most popular ones - FB2, EPUB, MOBI, plus a rich proprietary library is offered. Multimedia functionality is modest and limited to a few simple games and a dictionary. The “stuffing” of the book reader is represented by a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, which is quite enough for the smooth operation of a Linux-based OS. Built-in storage holds up to 8 GB, but it can be significantly expanded using microSD cards (up to 32 GB). For data transfer, both a wired microUSB interface and a wireless Wi-Fi 4 communication module are provided.
