Price, usb 3.0 The power supply doesn't look reliable, it's so light that it seems like there's nothing there. |
I decided to make my system unit as quiet as possible, so I decided to replace the HDD with an SSD. But what to do with the storage drive? That’s when I came across these enclosures. Ordered one, installed a 2TB drive, and it works great. It doesn't disconnect during use, the speed isn't very high, but it's stable. One obvious drawback is that the cables included, both the power supply and the USB cable, are rather short. I also wish it had type-c, but given the price, I understand why it's not included. The set comes with spacers that secure the drive in the case so it doesn't rattle around. I’m considering connecting it to my router via USB, which could be a cheap and easy alternative to a NAS. Price, does not lose connection, 3.5 size Short wires, both USB and from the power supply. |

Physically, the enclosure looks standard: medium-quality plastic, not ultra-durable, but not entirely "fragile" either.
The performance speed is standard for USB 3.0 enclosures: large files copy with no critical slowdowns, disks are read properly, and 4K movies or backup files open without excessive delays. It's not the lightning-fast speed of SSD bays, but that's expected for an HDD. I placed Invoke on this drive, and overall, it's a fully workable setup.
On the downside: slightly simple materials and a "budget" feel—this isn't some super-strong armor for the drive. It can be a bit annoying that the case gets warm during prolonged use, but that's a typical "effect" for simple enclosures, not a critical failure.
In conclusion, it's an adequate option for a 3.5" hard drive: nothing extraordinary, but it does the job reliably. If you need an inexpensive and fuss-free way to connect an HDD to a PC or transfer large volumes of data, it's a good choice.
