Which brand of bike is best to buy?Bike brands that guarantee you quality, reliability and riding comfort

Choosing a bike by frame size: 5 most important tipsLet's figure out why universal charts are not the best assistant for choosing a bike frame
I rode for a long time on different MTBs, the last one was a Cube Reaction on the top configuration, 95% on asphalt, so I decided to change the type of bike, I don’t regret it. I really liked the ram handlebar (different grip), the chrome-plate absorbs vibrations perfectly, the axles are very comfortable, you don’t need to adjust the brakes after removing the wheel, the bike is very durable and reliable, you can ride at higher speeds, unlike MTBs (although the acceleration is not as fast). I decided to support a domestic manufacturer, their support works well, the quality is decent, if you can buy with a 10% discount (like me), then the price is quite normal. Frameset chromol, reliability, axles, weight. No |
I'm not an experienced bike geek, I just thought that if I was paying a hefty sum (for me, anything over 32K is a significant amount) for a bicycle, I would get a reliable bike that I wouldn't have to tinker with right away, but that was not the case. I only rode on weekends, 20-30 km in dry weather. After about 4 months of using the bicycle, I decided to do a full maintenance with a complete disassembly. What I saw shocked me (see photo 2-3). The inside of the frame was all rusted, even though I never rode in the rain. I had to urgently treat it with rust converter and then fill it with preservative inside. There's no customer support whatsoever, you buy it and they forget about you. No one responds on the official website or on the Facebook page. Below is a chronology-obituary of the bicycle :) 12 km - the seat post clamp stopped holding. I recommend changing the clamp to a decent one or adding another one! 35 km - the pedal bearing broke apart; 157 km - the rear wheel ratchet stopped working but started working again after 20 km; 182 km - Transmission issues began, the chain started jumping over one sprocket; 338 km - Handlebar tape tore; 460 km - The KMC chain started slipping over the sprocket teeth, even though I lubricated it with Squirt wax lube every 100-200 km. Had to replace the chain. Overall, I'm not satisfied with the purchase. It's better to get an American Marin for this money. Design and color. - The bicycle started falling apart after the 35th kilometer; - The seat post clamp doesn't hold no matter how tightly you fasten it (photo 6); - The frame and fork rust instantly (photos 5-6); - All the bolts rusted on the eyelets, or possibly the eyelets themselves started to corrode (photo 4); - The front derailleur clamp was tightened so much that the frame got deformed (photo 1); - It's impossible to find spare parts for the bicycle (waited half a year for a hanger); - Instead of technical documentation, there was a generalized brochure aimed at children, and that too with errors. - There is no detailed information about the bicycle's components, only general info on the website and only the manufacturer is mentioned; - The frame balance is strange, the handlebars won't stay straight if you take your hands off; - Customer support is completely absent. |
