How to choose an electric kettleMain selection factors and tips for finding the best electric kettle
Model overview based on user reviews
The Rotex RKT80-GP electric kettle, with a power of 1100 W and a 1-liter capacity, is appreciated for its affordable price and appealing appearance. However, a significant drawback is the persistent plastic smell that affects both the kettle and the water, leading to an unpleasant taste. This issue stems from the plastic used in the construction, particularly around the electrical components. Attempts to mitigate the odor, such as sealing parts of the kettle, have not been successful, as the smell and taste persist even in cold water. This compromises the overall quality and environmental friendliness of the product, making it a less desirable choice for consumers.

Both the kettle and the water smell of plastic, even when it’s cold, if it sits in it, the water also tastes chemical. After disassembly, it turned out that the stench does not come from the gasket between the bottom and the body, but from the plastic on which the electrical part is assembled. Moreover, the smell enters the kettle through a hollow metal tube, which is part of the kettle’s automatic shut-off system. If you seal it, it will not turn off, there is almost no smell, but even cold water will stand for a little while and still has an unpleasant taste and smell. In general, all environmental friendliness is spoiled by the use of terrible quality plastic.
Price, appearance.
It smells like plastic, and it’s impossible to get rid of the smell and the corresponding taste of water at all.
