Powerful tile cutter at a reasonable price
Few DIY tile cutters can match the power of the Sturm TC-9820-L, which is equipped with a 1000 watt motor. A powerful motor plus a large diamond wheel with a diameter of 200 mm allow you to confidently start cutting all types of ceramic tiles used in the construction and renovation of apartments and private houses. The machine quite easily and quickly cuts not only ordinary facing tiles, but also thick porcelain stoneware, which is used for finishing floors. The maximum cutting depth is impressive: 41 mm when cutting tiles perpendicular to its surface or 22 mm when sawing at a 45° angle.
no frills
Otherwise, the device has a design that is quite typical for tile cutters with a lower disc position and water cooling. The equipment is more or less standard: there is a metal table with an adjustable tilt angle, marking lines are applied to it, a parallel stop and a device for diagonal sawing can be attached to the table.
Of the features, two important things from the point of view of using the tool should be noted: firstly, the countertop has large (by the standards of this class of equipment) dimensions — 500x400 mm. Therefore, not only ordinary tiles are placed on it, but also large-format pieces of porcelain stoneware. However due to the large size, the working platform turned out to be not rigid enough (it can bend under pressure). Secondly, the machine has a tendency to splash water. During operation, it abundantly fills everything around with water, so it is better to cut tiles on the street or, if you have to work indoors, pick up a mop from time to time and wipe puddles.
Reliable assistant for the tiler
The Sturm TC-9820-L machine has neither complex mechanical components nor electronic “chips”, such as a laser marker or auto-feed. It is easy to operate and maintain. It is convenient to disassemble and simply “tuning”, and the network of service centers involved in the repair of Sturm equipment covers the whole country. Therefore, the masters who decide to buy this tile cutter should not have any problems during work (except for the nuances described above).
