An inexpensive way to stay warm before the central heating kicks in
23 November 2017
At one time, I had a TV under the Supra brand, and I must say, the device was quite decent. Probably for this reason, when choosing an electric convector, I decided on this brand. We started using it almost from the end of September, so I'm able to make some conclusions. Mainly, they are positive and, overall, the convector is good. And if you recall how much we paid for it, you must admit that the purchase turned out to be successful.
It warms up well, although not very quickly. However, in a home setting, the speed isn't really that important. It heated a 17.5 square meters room efficiently until the heating system was installed. It gives off a lot of heat, and two kilowatts is a solid power. The body heats up significantly, but within safe limits. You can only get burned if you grab and hold onto the hottest parts on purpose. It can operate at two power levels: 1 or 2 kW. You can also adjust the room temperature using the built-in thermostat. There's also freeze protection that activates at temperatures below eight degrees. In an apartment building, this might not be necessary, but it could be useful in a private sector. The assembly is more or less neat, and it comes with a one-year warranty.
Having learned from my experience with a Chinese fan heater at work, I decided to first run this heater in a well-ventilated area – on the balcony. Judging by the "aroma" from the heaters, it was definitely a wise decision. What they've contaminated these heaters with in China is unclear. But there was a strong smell of burning plastic (odd, since it's all metal inside) and overheated grease. I burned off these "aromas" at maximum power for about an hour. Even after that, the smell lingered for about a week.
