Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB Pro RGB 750W
![]() | Outdated Product A fairly advanced power supply model, positioned by the manufacturer in the upper part of the average price range. The potential of this model is enough for high-quality maintenance of a gaming PC of almost any performance class. Spectacular RGB lighting and a fully modular wiring system can be considered key features of the device. The Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB SPR-0750F-R LED backlight gradient consists of 256 shades. Stationary, you can use any of the 4 primary colours: white, blue, red and green, you can also set the mode of smooth change of shades or turn it off completely. You can control the RGB backlighting modes using a special knob located on the control panel. The power supply is equipped with an efficient 140 mm fan, which comes into operation at a power load of 5%. During idle...or minimal PC load, the power supply switches to Smart Zero Fan hybrid cooling mode. For gaming needs, you can use up to 6 PCIe (6 + 2) connectors. The power supply uses a DC-DC converter. The circuitry is built using high quality Japanese (Rubycon) and Taiwanese (Teapo) capacitors. |

Pioneers in the world of lighting
Roughly 10 years ago, the idea of buying a power supply with lighting would have seemed strange to many. Times have changed, though, and the folks at the Taiwanese company Thermaltake were among the first to catch the wind of change. The Smart Pro RGB power supply hit store shelves in 2017 and has been popular ever since. Credit goes to the well-chosen combo of wattage, quality (85% efficiency), affordable price, and a well-thought-out lighting system.
Smart RGB
The Smart RGB uses a clear fan rotor with ten LEDs in the center that creates a large, bright ring of light as soon as it starts spinning. How pretty the lighting looks is a matter of taste, so rather than judge that, we’ll praise the thoughtful implementation. For example, its settings are saved when the PC is shut down, you can sync it with other RGB components—be it a graphics card, motherboard, or CPU cooler—and there’s a dedicated button on the unit to switch modes and colors. In theory, the button lets you avoid going into software to tweak the lighting, but in practice it’s on the back of the case and not very convenient to reach. It’s really only helpful when you just want to turn the lighting off.
Bright and efficient, but noisy
In terms of circuitry and user qualities, this is a solidly mid-range unit with smart choices and questionable compromises. On the plus side: an 80+ Bronze certification, a modular design, 650 W headroom, strong load capacity on the +12V rail, quality circuitry, and an extended 7-year warranty. Potentially, it’s a sturdy foundation for an optimal gaming build with a “monster” like an RTX 2070 Super. The main drawback is essentially one: the 80+ Bronze quality certification does make itself known, and the cooling system here is quite mixed. Below a 160 W load, the fan runs in passive mode and you won’t hear it, but nudge it a bit higher and noise jumps to a noticeable 40 dBA. Push it to the max, and the room quickly gets loud and hot.
