Bought it was for hunting trips. And since the hunting season in our country is mainly the autumn months, I asked a tourist friend with experience to help me in choosing a suitable double tent. Such a tent should be well protected from rain and wind, easy and quick to mount and dismantle. Model Stalker 2 from Tramp came up in all respects. Despite the apparent fragility, the tent is quite strong. Last but not least, this is the merit of the dural arches of the frame, which are responsible for the rigidity and ability to withstand strong winds. They are also lightweight, so the entire tent assembly weighs just over four kilograms. Additional wind resistance is provided by storm wires and a skirt sewn to the bottom of the awning. The water resistance of the tent is excellent. The impregnation of the outer dome guarantees dryness with a water pressure of up to 5000mm, and the fabric polyester flooring boasts a figure of 8000mm. The seams also have reliable waterproofing and are glued with a special polymer tape. Very pleased with good ventilation. There are two ventilation windows that can be fixed in the open position. Condensation at night temperatures less than 12-14 degrees still begins to appear. But it is formed only on the inner surface of the outer tent and, if it is properly installed, it does not fall on the inner walls. Thus, there is, as it were, condensate, but there are no problems with it. Pleasantly pleased with the little things like all sorts of pockets, ties, Velcro and other chips that simplify life. In some places, crooked seams were found, but water did not pass through them, so this is a conditional drawback. Pegs are lost very easily, which are then unrealistic to find in the grass. For four trips I have already lost two pieces, I will have to buy more. |
Maximum comfort
As part of the Stalker line of the Tramp brand, three versions of tents are combined, differing in capacity: respectively for 2, 3 and 4 people. Even the double model is quite large: when unfolded, its dimensions are 3x2.1 metres. This aspect should be taken into account, for example, in mountain hikes, where it is not easy to find a parking place, especially for large tourist groups.
Tramp Stalker 2 provides two inputs. Each of them is complemented by a mosquito net and a vestibule. The size of the bed is 210x150 cm, which practically corresponds to the dimensions of a double bed. The main vestibule is no less spacious (1 metre deep) and convenient due to the support on a separate arc: there will be no difficulties with placing backpacks or other tourist equipment.
High strength
An important feature of the model are arcs made of aluminium with a thickness of 8.5 mm. Thanks to them, the frame of the tent wins in strength in comparison with fibreglass. The used aluminium alloy is protected from residual deformations. In strong winds, this does not exclude the possibility that the arcs will bend, but they will not break, which sometimes happens with fibreglass.
Increased resistance to moisture
The Tramp Stalker 2 outer awning is made of RipStop polyester fabric. This is a light, but protected from wind and moisture (6000 mm of water column) material with special impregnations from ultraviolet radiation and fire. All seams are treated with heat shrink tape, and the corners are additionally reinforced against tearing. The bottom is made of polyester with high water resistance (8000 mm). To an even greater extent, a special canopy (skirt) attached to the bottom protects it from leaks and blowing.
Additional ventilation is provided by a pair of special windows. Inside along the entire perimeter of the walls there are pockets for small things. There is also an upper shelf, but it is separately fixed to the inner tent during each assembly, which is not very convenient. The downside of the model is its significant weight (4.2 kg). But if reliability and comfort for a reasonable price are a priority for you, then the Tramp Stalker is worth considering.
