While most Android tablet owners are puzzled by the choice of a microSD memory card to expand the storage capacity of their gadget, Apple owners have to be content with the device's built-in memory only. A flash drive with OTG support can serve as a way out of the situation.
From two sides
At one end of the Transcend JetDrive 300 Go is the usual USB plug, and at the other end is the Lighthing connector, with which the flash drive is connected to the iPhone or iPad. Both connectors are covered with transparent plastic caps. By the way, they are easy to lose, since the caps are not tied to the drive case.
Appendix
When a flash drive is connected to a smartphone or tablet, the JetDrive Go application is automatically launched, through which all data on board the drive is managed. Without the programme, the flash drive does not work and acts as a stub for the Lighthing connector. The functionality of the associated application is somewhat limited — it can be used to listen to music, create backups, or save photos and videos, but installing applications on the storage drive will no longer work.
Speed characteristics
When the Transcend JetDrive Go 300 is connected to a computer via USB 3.1, data is read at almost the values claimed by the manufacturer (about 130 Mb / s), and recording is carried out at a speed of about 65 Mb / s. The Lighthing port limits the communication speed to 20 Mb/s. These figures are sufficient for comfortable copying of data without a long investment of time.
