Under a pseudonym
The Transcend SSD 370 solid state drive is powered by the Transcend TS6500 controller, which is a modified version of the widely used Silicon Motion SM2246EN. The memory is presented as a constant Micron MLC for long-term data storage, and operational Nanya DDR3, which acts as a cache for fast processing of small files.
Lived happily ever after
MLC flash memory writes only two bits of information to each cell, so it can withstand at least 3000 rewrite cycles. It is unlikely that an SSD with MLC memory will last as much as three times longer than solutions based on TLC, but it is definitely better suited for active use. The read and write speeds of the 256 GB version of the Transcend SSD 370 are 520 and 310 Mbps, respectively.
Universal Soldier
The Transcend SSD 370 comes with a metal sled for installing a 2.5-inch drive into a 3.5-inch slot in a PC case (old and cheap cases lack their own SSD mount). By the way, the SATA III interface (6 Gbps) is backward compatible with SATA second (3 Gbps) and even the first generation (1.5 Gbps). That is, you can connect the Transcend SSD 370 even to old computers - from 2005 of release. The only exceptions are motherboards with the "ancient" PATA-IDE connector. As a result, the reliable Transcend SSD 370 will survive more than one PC upgrade, and if necessary, even “move” from a desktop to a laptop or vice versa.
Interesting fact: Transcend SSD 370 is sold in two versions: 370 with a black plastic case and 370S, made in silver metal. The second heats up a little less during operation, otherwise the models are identical.
