The smartphone and tablet have long been my constant companions at work and home, and on vacation. Android devices are great—they are easy and convenient to use for communication and entertainment—but they have their downsides. For example, both of my devices have not-so-loud external speakers, and the sound quality could be better. They are sufficient for conversation, but playing music or watching a movie with such sound is not comfortable. This problem can be partially solved with headphones, but I don't like using headphones at home. That's why I have taken a closer look at this simple mobile speaker with its own battery. The sound is not bad. It's not perfect, of course, but expecting anything mind-blowing from a device that costs $15 is silly. This speaker sounds much better than my tablet or smartphone, and that's what matters. You can crank up a decent volume, but it's best not to set it at maximum. It connects to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth or with a cable through the regular line-in. Air connectivity hardly affects operating time, which is anywhere from 4 to 5.5 hours, depending on the volume. It charges from any USB charger with a 5V output. It's best to use a 2A charger, but a 1A works well too. In a pinch, you can even charge it from a laptop or netbook, though the charging process will take noticeably longer. The bass is very minimal, but to be fair, it's more than what you get from a smartphone or tablet speaker. At maximum volume, the sound becomes heavily distorted, crackling and gurgling. It's unclear why they even left this option available. |
Are you missing music in the kitchen, or outdoors? Or maybe the volume of your laptop is too low? Then you need this portable speaker! It can work via Bluetooth connection (ideal for smartphones and tablets) as well as via a mini-Jack cable (ideal for laptops). The sound quality is much better than in a smartphone or laptop, as is the volume. I was pleased that there was no noise or interference when working at maximum volume via Bluetooth, which is very good! However, I don't recommend listening to music at maximum volume when connected via cable from a laptop — there's a high risk of the portable speaker breaking, as the speaker could simply tear. It also features a built-in microphone and hands-free function, which is very convenient. I especially appreciate the Bluetooth signal reception — there are almost no interferences, unless the source is about 10 meters away or through one or two walls. 1. Sound quality 2. Power 3. Autonomy 4. Material and build quality 5. Ease of use 6. Fast charging 7. Removable battery 8. Good Bluetooth signal reception Compared to other portable speakers in this price range, this is the best solution! low sound quality when working via Bluetooth from a laptop |
