How to choose a microphone for streamingCondenser, dynamic, cardioid or XLR?

Fireball

Vertux Sphere is a USB-connected computer microphone for recording podcasts, streaming on YouTube and Twitch, and voice chatting on Skype, Zoom and Discord. Compatible not only with PC, but also with PlayStation 4. Stands out from the competition with iridescent RGB lighting (turned off by the microphone deactivation button) and a spherical shape that acts as a mesh pop filter that reduces sound overload from the labial consonants "B" and " P".

Condenser capsule

Inside the Vertux Sphere is a condenser capsule that records sound much better than electret microphones. The frequency range is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and the sensitivity is minus 46 dB. As befits a streamer or podcast microphone, it is better to speak in Vertux Sphere at close range, almost close, while from half a metre the voice will not sound loud enough. This is done on purpose so that extraneous noise is not captured.

Cardioid orientation

The recording directionality of the Vertux Sphere is cardioid, meaning the sound is captured directly in front of the microphone and at a slight angle to the left and right. The sound recording volume can only be adjusted programmatically in the operating system settings. But the volume of the headphones, which can be connected directly to the microphone to control recording in real time, is adjusted with a wheel on the case.

Vibration-absorbing tripod

By default, Vertux Sphere is installed on a small tripod with soft rubber pads that not only prevent slipping on the table, but also minimize the vibration transmitted to the microphone from PC hard drives. A standard 5/8” thread is also provided for pantograph mounting. The bundled USB cable is 1.8 m long. Vertux also has a more affordable Streamer-2 USB microphone in the form of a flexible gooseneck.
