A low-cost option
Machine "Zenith" ZEP-800 is one of the "low-cost" electric tile cutters with bottom feed and water-cooled disk. It can cut tiles and porcelain tiles. The engine has a good (for this type of equipment) power — 800 watts. This is enough to confidently work with ceramics up to 12 – 15 mm thick (the passport cutting depth is 35 mm, but in fact this figure is almost impossible to achieve).
Design features
The design of the machine is uncomplicated and extremely simple (which, on the other hand, is even a plus, because the fewer parts, the less breakdowns). The device consists of a metal chassis on which an electric motor and a movable table are fixed. The tabletop can be tilted up to 45° for miter cuts. The table is made of stainless steel (however, not too thick, so you don’t need to press hard on it) and has a size of 385x380 mm — enough to work with various types of tiles used in wall and floor decoration. Rulers are applied directly on the surface of the tabletop, which help to accurately mark the lines of cuts. The box with the tool also contains a guide bar with “lambs” and a plastic corner stop.
There are two features of the tile cutter worth mentioning, which can not be called advantages. Firstly, the regular disc is of mediocre quality and does not always give a clean enough cut, so it is better to replace it with any other disc with an outer diameter of 180 mm and a bore of 22.2 mm. In addition, the machine is noticeably splashed with water. In order not to get wet to the threads during operation, you will have to “attach” some kind of mudguard to the upper casing.
Affordable tile cutting machine for a private trader
Available for under $65, Zenit's ZEP-800 tile cutter is great for simple decorating and repair work. Such machines are usually used by private master tilers and small construction teams. But, given the extremely low cost of a tile cutter, those who plan to make repairs with their own hands can afford the purchase of such equipment.
