An inexpensive monitor of a universal nature that feels equally good both on an office table and in a greenhouse at home. The model is based on an 8-bit IPS-matrix with W-LED backlight and FullHD resolution (1920x1080 pixels). The monitor has a brightness of 250 cd / m², static and dynamic contrast ratios — 1,000:1 and 100,000,000:1, respectively. The vertical frequency is 60 Hz.

Due to the fast response time of the matrix (4 ms when switching from grey pixel to grey), dynamic scenes are clearly displayed on the screen of the Acer SA240Ybid. Video signal sources are connected to the monitor via an analogue VGA interface or digital HDMI and DVI-D connectors. A distinctive feature of the model in appearance is thin frames, which simplifies the creation of configurations from several monitors combined into a single whole. The leg on which the brainchild of Acer rests can be “amputated” with a screwdriver, and the monitor itself is hung on the wall using a 100x100 mm VESA bracket.

One of the most affordable 24" monitors

Acer SA240Ybid is positioned as an affordable home PC solution. A kind of upgrade for those who have been sitting on an old and not too big monitor for a long time. He looks quite strict, if not ascetic. Despite the fact that its release dates back to 2017, the design can hardly be called outdated, with rather thin bezels on the sides and top of the display.

Full HD IPS panel

Acer SA240Ybid is equipped with a 24-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The display is based on an IPS-matrix with W-LED backlighting, a standard margin of brightness for this class and a fairly high contrast ratio. The monitor demonstrates an unusually rich and colorful picture for its class, which raises questions about the naturalness of colour reproduction. Yes, and the default colour accuracy leaves much to be desired, but this is quite simply solved by choosing modes and their personal settings in the menu. Fortunately, the menu is quite simple and localized, so everything is set up in a couple of minutes. Of the minuses, also note small lights from the bottom of the screen, but they do not really spoil the impression. In general, the quality of the picture, taking into account the price, is a solid four here, for this money you will always have to make some compromises.

Required set of connections and VESA mounts

To connect the model to a PC, there are three connectors to choose from: HDMI, VGA or DVI-D. Support for Flicker-Free technology is claimed, plus there is the possibility of wall fixing the monitor using a 100x100 mm VESA mount. Acer's AMD FreeSync integration was ditched due to the positioning of the monitor, which is great for office work or home use for anyone looking for a low-cost solution with an attractive design. Among analogues with similar parameters and additional options, it is worth highlighting the AOC 24V2Q, which looks much more interesting, but also costs more.
