Hit sequel
Akai's first MPK Mini revolutionized the amateur recording industry. At that time, the “keys + pads” format was quite rare and was accepted with skepticism, but over time it proved that to record hits, first of all, trained hands and imagination are needed, and not an expensive 5-octave keyboard with weighted keys.
Compact does not mean for amateurs
After quite a few years, Akai decided to update the still popular model with just a few improvements under the slogan "compact does not mean for amateurs." Firstly, a joystick appeared here for dynamic control of the pitch (note: tonality) and modulation of synthesizers.
Four-way joystick
The format of the joystick itself is also quite interesting and in some ways it turned out to be even more convenient than the standard wheels for tonality and modulation, as it allows you to control both at the same time. Secondly, an output for connecting a sustain pedal has been added to the updated version of the MPK Mini. And this is another plus one to the expression.
High-quality and reliable device 3-in-1
Otherwise, it's still the same great 3-in-1 device. The main unit consists of 25 keys with a built-in arpeggiator and octave switch. On the top we will find 8 MPC pads with Beat Repeat function to control the sampler or drum machine. The picture is completed by 8 knobs for controlling the main parameters of a virtual instrument and a virtual studio control unit with buttons for switching banks with presets. Compared to the first version of the MPK Mini, here the ergonomics have basically changed, which has become more thoughtful. Reliability and build quality are as high as ever. And it's still damn light, only 0.75kg!
