Model overview based on user reviews
The D-Link DWA-131 Wi-Fi adapter is a compact and lightweight device designed for easy portability, supporting Wi-Fi 3 (802.11g) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) standards with a maximum speed of 150 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. While its small size is appreciated, user experiences vary significantly. Some users report issues with buggy drivers and connectivity problems, noting that it fails to detect networks reliably, especially compared to other brands like ASUS and Netgear. Others have found it to be a reliable solution, using it successfully with media players and satellite receivers without issues, achieving satisfactory speeds for streaming. However, there are concerns about the device heating up during use. Overall, while it offers a convenient form factor, potential buyers should be aware of the mixed reviews regarding its performance and reliability.

I swore not to buy D-link Wi-Fi adapters anymore.
Took it for the 802.11n and compact size for the laptop.
The drivers are buggy, it can't see the network. Just like before with D-link internal adapters.
Meanwhile, the built-in ASUS laptop adapter and the Netgear adapter connect without issues, but this one is acting up.
No more D-link!!!

I've been using it for over a year and have two of them. One is installed in a Seagate FTA+ media player, and the other was kept as a spare, but a few months ago, after support from the software developers became available, I installed it in a Dreambox DM8000HD satellite receiver (instead of the internal one that only works in b/g standards). Both adapters work in tandem with the DIR-615 e4. I haven't noticed any issues. The speed is up to 150 Mbps over WiFi, and I watch videos on the media player (files are stored on the computer). Overall, I'm very satisfied!
Small, nimble.
