The UltraSharp U2715H is a versatile 27" model that will suit the vast majority of users. Overall, the image quality and ergonomics are excellent. The matte finish does not glare, viewing angles are close to perfect, pixelation is not noticeable, and, importantly, backlight flickering has been eliminated. The ergonomic stand allows you to adjust the screen position for maximum comfort and rotate it to a vertical position. A built-in light sensor would not hurt, but it has not yet become an integral attribute even for premium models.
Benefits of an IPS matrix
Colour reproduction, like other models with IPS matrices, is good. The monitor is suitable for amateur work with graphics and photo processing, however, it will not satisfy all professionals: coverage according to the CIE1976 standard is 91%, and sRGB is 99%. If you're looking for a no-compromise solution, look no further than the U2713H with 120% CIE 1976 coverage, Adobe RGB 99% and sRGB 100%. However it costs about one and a half times more than the U2715H (about $1000).
Touch control
However, this model could not do without its shortcomings. According to reviews on the Web, some instances have problems with uneven backlighting. For example, one of the corners may be slightly brighter than the other three. This is common to many IPS displays, including TVs. This disadvantage manifests itself, for example, when watching movies, but is invisible when surfing. From an ergonomic point of view, there are two things to complain about. The first is that the device does not “know how” to automatically select the connector that receives the signal — this will have to be done manually, which is inconvenient if you have several sources connected to the monitor. The second is that not everyone liked the touch buttons.
Compatible with Apple computers
Two HDMI inputs with MHL 2.0 support allow you to connect mobile gadgets to watch videos or photos. Display Port and Mini Display Port connectors make the monitor suitable for use with Apple computers. At the same time, the kit includes a Mini DP-DP cable. This, by the way, allows Mac Mini owners to save a lot on buying an expensive 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display. By the way, the Dell monitor has two profiles with settings — for PC and Mac.
This model has a headphone / speaker output and a USB hub for five USB 3.0 ports. Interestingly, the monitor has an output (DisplayPort) for connecting another display. Considering that the U2715H has a very thin frame, two such models will make a good tandem for work, for example, for designers or programmers.
