home chef

The Electrolux electric induction hob will turn the home kitchen into a professional one, and the housewife or bachelor into a chef. After all, in order to prepare a delicious dish, you do not need special skills and abilities — the device will do everything by itself. A convenient touch control panel with a display, a clear menu and settings will help you with this, where not only power and parameters are displayed, but also tips: just select the type of product and the desired finished result (for example, a steak with blood) — and the system will automatically select the optimal temperature and cooking time. In addition, "Sous vide" (long-term cooking of the product at a constant temperature in a special bag or vacuum) and "Melt" modes for chocolate, butter, etc. are available.

In the kit you will find a temperature probe — a wireless temperature sensor that communicates with the panel using an antenna and exchanges information with it. It must be lowered into liquids or stuck into solids in order for the sensor to accurately determine the temperature of the contents. It will help maintain the required degrees (for example, in the Sous Vide mode) and acts as a thermometer if you need to heat baby food or milk to a certain temperature. Another feature of the model is the wireless connection with the Hob2Hood hood. During operation, the hob and hood are synchronized, and the hood itself will turn on the backlight and select the necessary settings depending on the heating.

Also, when cooking, you will need timers, and the Electrolux EIS 8648 has several types of them. The countdown timer can be set for each cooking zone separately, and after the specified time has elapsed, an audible signal will sound and the heating will automatically turn off. Thus, you will not burn anything if you forget about the pan left on the stove. A regular timer does not affect the operation of the burners and simply records the time, while the control timer starts counting immediately after switching on and is used to control the burner's operating time.

Fast, convenient and safe

Now let's move on to the main thing that the hob has — burners. There are four of them: three with a capacity of 2.3 kW and one with 1.4 kW. For a short time, this power can be increased using the PowerBoost function — for example, if you need to quickly boil water. Bridge mode combines two burners into one to accommodate large containers. The cooking zones automatically detect if there is a pan on them and adapt to the size of the bottom. When the pause is activated, all cooking zones switch to the first power so that the food does not cool down for a long time, and the three-stage residual heat indicator after switching off indicates the zones that have not yet cooled down.

For safe operation, the automatic shutdown function is responsible. It works if all burners are turned off or they work too long; the control panel was flooded with something; the material of the cookware is not suitable for the induction hob; the surface has become very hot — for example, when the liquid in the dish has completely boiled away. The control panel can be locked, either temporarily during cooking or while the hob is not in use, so that children do not turn it on accidentally.

Quick installation

The manufacturer also focuses on the ease of installation of the surface. Thanks to the spring fixing and sealing, the panel self-centers, it is easy to place and adjust to any work surface and it is suitable for even the thinnest worktops (from 12 mm). In addition, there is no furniture spacer and ventilation in the front, like most competitors, which allows you to install a top drawer and make the most of the interior space. Although the instructions mention that the contents of the box can get hot. The dimensions for embedding are 750x490 mm, that is, the device is quite large and takes up a lot of space. The panel itself is made of glass-ceramic, has a beveled frame and graphite colour, so it will become a stylish, albeit expensive, addition to any interior.
