The simpler the better

FeiYu Tech Vimble 2 is a fairly simple smartphone stabilizer, one of the main charms of which lies in its intuitive operation.

To control the shooting, there are three main keys. The joystick key on top controls the camera movements left and right and up and down. The middle key turns on / off the stabilizer and switches one of the five operating modes. Well, the third bottom button is used for shooting: a short press takes a picture, a long one starts recording a video. There are zoom buttons on the side, and on the back is a button that activates panning or tracking modes.

Reliable smartphone holder

I liked that the smartphone holder is quite tight. You have to push the shutters with both hands, so it’s not scary for the smartphone that it accidentally falls out during the shooting. And the design itself is unlikely to loosen up in six months. The inside of the holder is upholstered with something like soft touch plastic. In appearance, it is impossible to damage a smartphone even in a plastic case. Supports smartphones up to 84 mm wide and weighing up to 210 grams. That is, virtually any popular camera phone.

Working with a proprietary application

To start working with the stabilizer, you need to install the proprietary Vicool application and connect your smartphone via Bluetooth. The application displays the gimbal charge level, shooting modes and a million small Vimble 2 settings like object tracking, screen grid, motor settings, head speed, etc. Out of habit, it seems that there are too many settings (plus not all of them are explained in the instructions), but after a while you get used to it. Moreover, you have to go into the settings only when necessary.

Selfie stick mode

Of the additional features, it is worth noting the ability to work in selfie stick mode (the telescopic tube can increase by 18 cm) and a tripod included. Against the background of competitors, only a small battery life looks like a disadvantage (5 hours versus 8 – 12). But the big question here is who's going to shoot five hours of video a day? Yes, and no one forbids connecting a power bank to the stabilizer and charging it during filming.
