Focal JMLab Chorus CC 700

3D sound

With the new Chorus range, French company Focal has set itself the goal of overcoming the limitations of a conventional 2-way centre speaker and achieving full 3D sound.

The case with non-parallel inner walls is assembled from MDF boards up to 25 mm thick and has the necessary rigidity to reduce vibrations and resonances that are harmful to the sound. Considering the large 16.5 cm bass/mid drivers, the Chorus CC 700 cabinet can be considered quite compact (18.5x49x19.5 cm).

Plenty of power for a big room

The CC 700 uses the company's exclusive inverted dome aluminium-magnesium alloy tweeter. Such a tweeter bypasses titanium tweeters in terms of elasticity and internal damping coefficient. Simply put, high frequencies are cleaner and more expressive, without parasitic resonances.

On the sides of the tweeter is a pair of mid/bass drivers, which are made of Polyglass paper coated with silicon microgranules. Such speakers have deep low frequencies and reduced distortion. The maximum 200W of power provides enough volume for a 50 square metre room.

Crystal highs and warm bass

If we talk about the nature of the sound, then Chorus is remembered most of all by the combination of a silky "top" with a transparent and detailed middle. The timbre colour can be described as light, but it is distinguished by a certain Focal coolness that not everyone likes. In contrast with the mids, the bass seems warm and soft (but by no means sluggish), which greatly emphasizes the French flavor woven from contradictions.

Universal speaker

This system does not sacrifice musical sophistication or home theater dynamics. Therefore, the JMLab Chorus CC 700 is suitable for those who want to hear all the sound nuances, and not just voice the dialogue.
