The Gemlux GL-CM-55 filter coffee maker can be considered an improved version of the previously sold Philips HD 7761. It has a slightly larger water reservoir (1.8 liters) and supports additional useful features.

Grinding Beans and Brewing Coffee

The unique feature of this coffee maker is the built-in conical burr grinder. It is made of steel, offers 9 grind size adjustments, and its container is designed for 240 grams of beans.

Overall, the burrs operate quite loudly and produce a rather coarse grind. However, for brewing filter coffee, you don't need a fine powder, and the beverage made from fresh beans will always be richer in taste and aroma than those made from pre-ground coffee.

Flexible Settings

The Gemlux GL-CM-55 features electronic controls with an LCD display. It allows you to set a delayed brewing time up to 24 hours. You can adjust the strength of the coffee and the number of cups needed (from 2 to 12), whereas, for example, the Mystery MCB-5125 always uses all the water in the reservoir.

Due to these features, the model helps you adjust the taste of the finished drink and is equally useful in both a small family setting and an office.

Traditional Features

After brewing coffee, the heating function for the glass carafe is activated, which automatically turns off after 40 minutes. The drip-stop system prevents coffee from spilling onto the heating plate. A special sound signal alerts you when it's time to descale the appliance.

The model comes with a reusable nylon filter and a measuring spoon for beans.

The coffee maker is more expensive than its "classmates." You should also consider its relatively large size before purchasing. But in fact, the Gemlux GL-CM-55 is a drip coffee machine that requires minimal user involvement in the brewing process. If you are interested in such an appliance, the extra cost compared to other models won't seem too high.
